The Village at Work

Discover some of the people behind the trades and occupations that underpinned the community of Ditchling in the 18th and 19th centuries, from the blacksmiths, wheelwrights, harness makers and saddlers to the carriers, butchers and bakers. With two abbatoirs and its very own shoe maker, Ditchling truly was a self sufficient community.
